Blur Image Online — Soft Privacy Blur for Photos

Apply a natural soft blur to any part of a photo without installing software. Blur Image is built for privacy and discretion: hide faces in crowd shots, obscure names on documents, or soften background distractions before posting on social media. Everything runs locally in your browser — your files are never uploaded to a server.

How to use this tool

  1. Go to Blur Image and upload your JPG, PNG, or WebP file.
  2. Click Square or Circle and place the shape over the area you want to blur.
  3. Drag corners to resize the blur region and drag inside to reposition it.
  4. Use the blur slider to choose a subtle or strong soft blur effect.
  5. Add more regions if needed, then download your edited PNG.

Examples & use cases

  • Blur a face in a group photo

Place a circle blur over someone's face before sharing an event photo on Instagram while keeping the rest of the image sharp.

  • Hide text on a screenshot

Cover usernames, email addresses, or chat messages with a rectangle blur before posting a screenshot to social media.

  • Soft blur on a license plate

Use a tight square blur with medium strength to anonymize a car plate in street photography or travel content.

  • Blur background distractions

Draw a large soft blur over cluttered background areas so the main subject stands out in a portrait.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between blur and pixelate?
Blur creates a smooth, out-of-focus effect ideal for natural-looking privacy. Pixelate uses visible blocks for a censored TV-style look. Use Blur Image for soft hiding; use Pixelate Image when you want an obvious mosaic effect.
Can I blur only part of an image?
Yes. Add one or more square or circle regions. Only the area inside each shape is blurred; the rest of the photo stays untouched.
Is blurring photos online safe for private images?
Reels Editor processes images entirely in your browser. Your photo is not sent to our servers, which makes it suitable for sensitive or unreleased content.
What file format do I get after blurring?
Exports download as PNG to preserve quality and support transparency where applicable.
Can I blur multiple areas in one photo?
Yes. Add as many shapes as you need — for example, blur two faces and a name badge in the same image.
